These excerpts come down clearly in favour of fasting, as
you would expect from our interest in the subject.
It is also true that there are other physicians and dieticians
who either see no real benefits to be derived from fasting
or, see it simply as another passing 'fad diet'.

FASTING:
THE ULTIMATE DIET (1997): p. 13
"The fast does not merely detoxify; it also breaks down superfluous
tissue -fat, abnormal cells, atheromatous plaque [fatty deposits
on the inner lining of an artery that can cause atherosclerosis]
and tumors - and releases diseased tissues and their cellular products
into the circulation for elimination."
FASTING AND EATING FOR HEALTH (p.10)
"Toxic or unwanted materials circulate in our bloodstream and
lymphatic tissues, and are deposited in and released from our fat
stores and other tissues. An important element of fasting detoxification
is mobilizing the toxins from their storage areas. This process
occurs best and most efficiently during total fasting."
(Ibid. p. 176)
"Fasting is a safe and effective approach for not only fibroid
tumors, but also most of the non-cancerous tumors. Nasal polyps,
lipomas [common, benign tumors of fatty tissue] benign ovarian tumors,
and benign tumors of the breast often respond favorably to therapeutic
fasting, especially when the person is not very overweight."
